Mistry Wins The Neustadt!

Rohinton Mistry has been awarded the $50,000 Neustadt International Prize for Literature for 2012. The announcement was made last Friday night.

Exciting in itself, this announcement also raises speculation about the possibility of a future Nobel, as the Neustadt has had predictive value in this regard in the past.

Although Saul Bellow was born in Canada, he was a naturalized US citizen when he won the Nobel for Literature in 1976. This connection is the closest brush Canada has had with the illustrious literary prize to date.
